Tough times with the wife…

September 12, 2009

I don’t know what’s happening with Gayle right now. Things seemed to be going so well, then she slowly started distancing herself from me.  Now I’m afraid that she may be on her way out of the marriage again…

Letter to Daniel#6

August 27, 2009

Wow… it’s been over 16 days since my last letter. I SUCK!! I’m really sorry, I’ve been getting up every day at 4am trying to keep up with the work. I keep trying to write, then decide to hold off another day. Well I made the same decision tonight and then thought twice and decided any word from me would probably be better than no word at all. So this one will be short but I wanted you to know we’re thinking about you and talk about you every day!

What to blog about….

August 11, 2009

Well I signed up for the Blog Mastermind training class this week, and am learning a lot about what it takes to blog professionally. I haven’t even completed the first lesson, and I’m already excited and overwhelmed! I wish I could decide what topic (or topics) I want to blog about!

If tomorrow ends up being a quiet day at the office, maybe I’ll select a domain name and get my blog platform up and running, either on my own hardware or in a hosted location. Currenty it’s on TypePad, and I need to move it to WordPress as part of the Blog Mastermind experience. Maybe I’ll go back to TypePad in the future once I know what I’m doing, but for now I’ll stick with the professional’s advice that I’m paying for. 🙂

Phil and Becky’s custody battle begins.

August 11, 2009

Last week was full of excitement around the impending action that Phil and Becky are taking against Megan. This Wednesday, she will be served by two separate lawyers regarding custody of her kids. They will be place in emergency custody under Phil and Becky, and Megan will be required to have a hair sample drug screening and will need to successfully complete in-treatment before she gets to see the kids again. That also means she will lose all of her income when she loses custody of the kids.

Gayle’s mental break-through

August 11, 2009

This was the week when Gayle sat down and heard a doctor tell her that she has ADHD with a side of OCD for sure, Bi-Polar Disorder type 2, and a neurotransmitter deficiency (an interesting way of describing clinical depression). The doctor explained that this is fairly common given the right circumstances growing up, and that it has a lot to do with the events that took place when she was a child. He also told her that yes, she IS a burden to those around her because of it, and that she is in effect living with a disability. That was a lot to take in for me, and no doubt even more so for Gayle.  We both seemed to feel oddly relieved by what the doctor shared, especially since there are many things that can be done to manage it now that we think we know what’s going on. This entire week with Gayle has been unexpectedly pleasant, and I wonder if it’s because of some level of peace of mind on Gayle’s part about the future.

Letter to Daniel #5

August 11, 2009

Dear Son,

The past week has been busy! The doctor is helping Mom to really figure out what’s going on that makes her stay in bed and feel depressed. For the first time in years, I think they’re on the right path to get this figured out and help mom live her life the way she wants to (yay!).  We had a pretty good week over-all. I can’t think of too much to “report” to you today, since the past week has been fairly uneventful.

Reflections and lessons learned from my experience dating a Sociopath

August 5, 2009

Chapter 1: How I ended up engaged to Megan in seven days.

My then wife, Gayle, and I separated in August 2008, and she moved to Salem, OR with two of our six kids and started in a new relationship with another man that same month. Consequently, we went through a divorce that was final that same month.  Alone with four of our six children full time, I found myself feeling lonely, defeated and struggling to manage my home, career and children. About six weeks after Gayle left me, I signed up for eHarmony and a couple other dating sites, to see what else was out there.

Letter to Daniel #4

August 5, 2009

Dear Son,

This will only be my fourth letter and you’re already on day 18!! I’m sorry I haven’t done a better job of writing you. A day doesn’t go by where I tell Gayle I need to write you soon and so does she, and next thing you know it’s 4am in the morning and I’m out of brainpower to write. I’ve been working long, late hours Sunday night-Wednesday afternoon for a couple weeks now, and then I have to go home, catch up on other projects and sleep lol. Anyway, enough excuses, I’ve been up all night so sorry if this one comes off a bit groggy, but I’m not letting another day slip by without writing you so there!

New minivan day 1, Fifi the cat died.

July 25, 2009

Today was an exhausting day. We forgot to order Kaye’s prescription renewal today, so she’ll be going on two days without her meds. We need to get that done first thing in the morning. She turns 14 today (YIKES!) and we’re hosting a birthday party at Chucky Cheeses for her, family and friends tomorrow afternoon.

Gayle and I both felt very short with each other all day it seemed, being overly sensitive about whatever we both did. I don’t know why either. Maybe it’s because she didn’t take her antid-depressant last night, but I don’t want to just write it off as her fault. I may be tired and grumpy, although I don’t really feel that way. Hopefully things will go more smoothly tomorrow!

Letter to Daniel #3

July 22, 2009

Hi Son,

Today was a busy day indeed! I brought home a new puppy named Pepper. He’s just an 8 week old mut, half lab and half shepherd down the street, but he’s adorable. I almost didn’t share that with you since I don’t want to do anything to get your focus off of the challenge before you at WAY, but I took a chance that it would be something you would like to hear about and that you’re focused enough to stay on track. I included a picture with this letter so you can see how cute he is! Let’s hope we do a better job at house training this little guy so he can stay inside and actually be a family dog for once!
